APR: Givhan running for State Senate in District 7

Tuesday, June 20, 2017, Alabama Republican Party Senior Vice Chairman Sam Givhan announced that he is running for Alabama State Senate, District 7.  Givhan made the decision after incumbent Senator Paul Sanford (R-Huntsville) announced that he would not seek re-election.

Givhan said, “I have been living, working and active in the Madison County Community for more than two decades.  I know the issues that matter most to the families, businesses and residents of the greater Huntsville area and believe I have the leadership it takes to represent Madison County in the State Senate.”

Givhan stated, “We are facing great challenges in Alabama with roads in disrepair, budgetary problems, and a lack of faith in our elected officials.  I can bring everyone to the table and work on solutions to keep taxes low and government small and serve with honesty and integrity. I have a history of finding solutions to issues and I can take that experience to the next level.”

Sam has been married to Heather King Givhan for 25 years, and they have 6 children (ages 15-23). The Givhans attend Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville.
